Lighting Controls Training
A well-programmed system is only as good as the people operating it. We provide patient, educational training for building engineers, facility managers, and end users — ensuring everyone understands not just how to use the system, but why it works the way it does.
TL;DR: You'll leave every training session with understanding and confidence — not confusion. We tailor content to your audience, your system, and your building.
Who this is for
- Facility managers and building engineers inheriting a new or existing system
- End users who interact with lighting controls daily (teachers, office managers, maintenance staff)
- Electricians and contractors who want to deepen their controls knowledge
- Lighting designers and engineers who want hands-on protocol training
- Owners who want their team to be self-sufficient after turnover
Training tiers
End Users & Facility Managers
- System overview — what's installed and how it works
- Day-to-day operation (scenes, overrides, schedules)
- Occupancy and vacancy sensor behavior
- Common questions and quick fixes
- When to call for support vs. what you can handle
Electricians, Contractors & Designers
- System architecture and topology
- Device identification, addressing, and configuration
- Programming fundamentals (scenes, schedules, sensor parameters)
- Troubleshooting methodology and common failure modes
- Energy code compliance requirements and documentation
- Hands-on exercises with real hardware (when available)
What makes our training different
Tailored to your system
We don't use generic slide decks. Training is built around the actual system installed in your building.
Patient and educational
No rushing, no jargon overload. We meet people where they are and make sure they leave confident.
Practical, not theoretical
Hands-on walkthroughs, real scenarios, and the specific steps your team needs for day-to-day operation.
Documentation included
Quick-start guides, system documentation review, and reference materials your team can use after we leave.
Delivery formats
In-Person
On-site at your facility. Best for hands-on system walkthroughs.
Webinar
Live remote sessions via video call. Great for distributed teams.
Hybrid
Combination of remote instruction and on-site follow-up.
Standardized training modules
Wattstopper DLM Training
We offer a dedicated Wattstopper DLM training module covering system theory, architecture, IRB planning, device installation and configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energy code compliance. Available as Tier 1 (end-user) or Tier 2 (technical) formats.
Additional standardized training packages for other manufacturer platforms are in development.
